Theresa Becchetti and team participated in a Marin Land Trust Ranch Day in May.The event overall an entertainment and samples/shopping hootenanie. People walked by, took pictures with the exhibit, felt the wool (had 2 of the lambs out, both with cleaned wool, one black, one white), and grabbed freebies.
A few challenges were fighting for attention with lots of other exhibits and activities at the event. But in many instances people were able to make the connection locally from California rangelands to the global issues pastoralists face. A few things that worked were definitely the mural/sheep with wool on them, and kids spun the flip panels.
But they LOVED the mural and the sheep.
Overall the event was a look, picture, feel and go crowd. However, folks did make a palpable connection to their region and grassland culture because the entire event was about celebrating the connection to rangelands. In that regard the exhibit fit perfectly and added to the day.
