On April 22, 2026, we had the IYRP exhibit at the Harney County Library and for our weekly Story Time for toddlers, we read the book The Wooden Camel by Wanuri Kahiu.
We then took the kiddos over to the exhibit, then for the craft they made the 3D animals and took home coloring pages. Attendance was 8 kids and 6 adults for the event (I did not take any pics that day.) The exhibit was at the library from Tuesday 4/21 to Friday 4/24 am so library patrons were able to view it then.
On Wednesday July 1, 2026, our kids Summer Reading event was IYRP Textile Crafts. We first watched the video of the Argentine shepherd singing, then I showed the kids pictures rangelands around the world, them we made felt flowers to decorate the sheep. Attendance was an impressive 61 kids and 23 adults! This fall we will have a call out for crochet squares to make a blanket for the sheep, and an adult felt flower workshop.
On Wednesday July 22, 2026, our kids Summer Reading event was a wildflower seed craft event. There was a “lift the flap” guessing game with edible seeds to look at an feel, a picture of the crop being grown (such as example included) and the name of the seed crop on back of photo. The kids made seed balls using air dry clay or salt dough which they decorated with the dried flowers Lauren had collected. Attendance was 43 kids and 13 adults.
