Mother Road Brewery was apparently the place to be on Saturday evening, September 12th! the Arizona IYRP cohort teamed up with Diablo Trust and Mother Road to host a beer release, film showing of "Land in the Balance", and to showcase the IYRP arts exhibit. All in an outdoor brewery venue with mood lights on a mid-70s late summer evening in Flagstaff. Sounds delightful.
Given the festive/craft brewery/social atmosphere, the team test-ran a novel evaluation technique that could...just maybe!, be more enticing than filling out written evaluations on clipboards. With a bright tip from Courtney Duchardt of University of Arizona, we adapted a farmers market Rapid Market Assessment approach. Think: flip charts, colorful dots, some illustrations, a few engaging questions, and a hoard of people swilling beer and affixing dots to hand-drawn Likert scale questions. If only we could integrate axe-throwing somehow...
At any rate, the Arizona IYRP team has so far put together perhaps the most creative and alluring public outreach event so far. They've set a high bar at the least. Thanks to a great lineup of partners at University of Arizona (Flavie Audoin, Courtney Duchardt, and Elena Dosamantes), Diablo Trust (Jessica Archibald), and partners at Mother Road Brewery, it sounds liek it was an amazing event. Good work team!
